By Aaron Hall – Daily Post Editor

The Wheatley Sharks picked up their first win of the year in Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League action in Dresden on Friday night (Oct. 2).

Wheatley jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Brad Quinlan and Nathan Puchnatyj.

The Kings rallied in the second period tying the game up, after goals by Jeremy Park and Brad Oliveira.

However with just 14 seconds remaining in the second period, Wheatley re-gained the momentum and picked up a goal from David Bingeman, which proved to be the winner.

Puchnatyj picked up his second goal of the game with an empty-netter in the third period.

Sharks goalie Laine Parent made 23 saves for win, and Kings goalie Brent Paxton stopped 26 shots in defeat.

The win puts Wheatley’s record at 1-6-0, while the Kings dropped to 4-3-0, still good for second in the North Division.
